Some of my earliest memories are of my brother and I begging our father, an enthusiastic photographer, to set up the projector and show us his slides. We loved seeing people we knew and places we'd never been; it was like going to the movies and we couldn't get enough. I maintained an interest in photography, but it wasn't until college that I picked up the camera (my father's Nikon F, older than me) with any intent. Once I did I was hooked. Originally intending to be an Economics major, I was won over by the siren song of the camera. I graduated with a major in Studio Art Photography and a minor in German. Although I work primarily in digital now, I still enjoy working with film when I have the opportunity.

I spent nearly three years producing product and lifestyle photography for a large shoe company, which allowed me to travel across the country and around the world. After I became the creative director for the website, I felt my own creativity begin to erode. I was spending more time talking about photography in meetings than actually doing the photography that I loved and I realized it was time for a change. It was time for Kelly Jensen Photography to become my main focus--my career--and not an occasional project. I love having the freedom to pursue different interests and hone my skills in many different situations. It's challenging and exciting and I love to love my job.

My personal work is centered on the unique experience of a location, from the small details in someone's home to a larger perspective on a city or the landscape of a forest or desert, each place has an energy that makes it undeniably itself. My goal is to isolate and document the specific feeling of that specific place. When I'm not photographing, I also enjoy reading, cycling, my two crazy cats, traveling, making pickles and camping. I am a member of the American Society of Media Photographers and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. I donate a portion of all profits to charitable organizations in Connecticut.
